LARGE INTESTINE IMBALANCES

Cold Invading the Large Intestine
TONGUE: thick white coat
PULSE: deep, wiry
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: sudden pain in the abdomen, painful diarrhea, sensation of cold in abdomen, general sensation of cold.
SOME COINCIDENT WESTERN MEDICINE DISEASES:
dysententery, gastroenteritis, influenza, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis

Damp Heat in the Large Intestine
TONGUE: red, sticky, yellow coat
PULSE: slippery, rapid
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: abdominal pain, diarrhea, mucous and blood in the stools, repulsive odor from stools, burning sensationin anus, scanty dark urine, fever, sweating (which does not decrease the fever), thirst without desire to drink, sensation of heaviness of the body and limbs, stuffy chest and stomach region. SOME COINCIDENT WESTERN MEDICINE DISEASES:
dysentery, food poisoning, stomach or intestinal flu, gastroenteritis

Deficient and Cold Large Intestine
TONGUE: pale PULSE: deep, fine
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: loose stools (like duck feces), dull pain in the abdomen, borborygmus (audible gas in the abdomen), pale urine, cold limbs. 
SOME COINCIDENT WESTERN MEDICINE DISEASES:
stomach or intestinal flu, food poisoning, dysentery, gastroenteritis

Deficient and Dry Large Intestine
TONGUE: dry, pale or red PULSE: fine
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: dry stools - difficult to pass, dry mouth, dry throat, thin body

constipation, dehydration, adverse drug affects, aftermath of febrile (feverish) illness, chronic pancreatitis, hemmorrhoids

TONGUE: thick yellow dry coat PULSE: full, rapid
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: constipation, dry stools, burning sensation in the mouth, dry tongue, burning sensation in the anus, swollen anus, scanty dark urine

constipation, dehydartion, diverticulitis, anorectal infection

Heat Obstructing the Large Intestine
TONGUE: red body, thick yellow dry coat PULSE: deep, full, big
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: constipation, burning sensation in anus, abdominal distension, abdominal pain which is worse with pressure, high fever, tidal fever, sweating - esp. on limbs, vomiting, thirst, delirium.

dysentery, food poisoning, infectious febrile illness, acute bowel obstruction

Large Intestine Collapse
TONGUE: pale PULSE: fine, weak, deep
SIGNS/SYMPTOMS: chronic diarrhea, prolapsed anus, hemorrhoids, tiredness after bowel movements, cold limbs, no appetite, mental exhaustion, desire for warm drinks, desire for touch on the abdomen.
