TCM PATHOLOGY GUIDE

INTERPRETING RESULTS

Links to the Pathology Sections are just below the text.

The imbalances checked on your report have at least three signs and/or symptoms indicated on your Intake Form. There may be three to five or more imblances checked. THE NUMBER OF IMBALANCES CHECKED IS NOT A MEASURE OF THE SEVERITY OF YOUR CONDITION. RATHER, THE DEGREE TO WHICH YOU ARE OUT OF BALANCE DETERMINES THE SEVERITY OF YOUR CONDITION.

Moreover, identifying which imbalances are occuring is only the first step in the task of diagnosis. Sorting out and understanding the inter-relationships among them is necessary to make a complete diagnosis. This is the point at which the skills of a professional practitioner of Oriental Medicine are absolutely necessary. Even armed with the knowledge of which pathologies are present, an untrained person can make errors in diagnosis which result in selection of just the opposite treatment needed. The Pathology Guide gives the details of each imbalance. Included in each entry are: signs and symptoms, tongue and pulse types, and some of the corresponding Western Medicine diseases and disorders.
